The project is located on West 26th Street in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, directly south of Hudson Yards. The client required a modern space that could serve as a workplace for gallery employees and a location for private viewings. The primary gallery location is a short walk away, and at times guests and personnel travel between the two sites.
White walls, concrete floors, and large windows with northern exposure create a contemporary atmosphere and character. The linear grid of the window mullions and interior architecture is complemented by carefully selected furnishings with subtle curves. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the viewing room from the provided seating area, which includes an Andrée Putman sofa and a pair of vintage French armchairs with woven cane details.
The design concept for the staff areas emphasizes the importance of art in creating a pleasant work environment. The conference room features a custom table made of natural oak with a matte finish and chairs designed by Eileen Gray. Overall, the project has transformed a typical workplace into a bright and inviting space that guests and staff enjoy.
