Seoul Director's Office, 2023

The client approached ADCFFE with a request to design a formal yet relaxed director’s office and viewing room for their gallery in Seoul. As the design developed, the character of the furniture needed to be simple yet sophisticated in form. By keeping select pieces of the client’s existing furniture, we worked to design the space with these items, added a rare Otto Schulz sofa, and assorted low tables made from black Nero Marquina and Arabescato Corcia marble.

Additionally, to satisfy the need for flexible seating, we incorporated sustainable cork stools originally designed as a collaboration between Herzog & de Meuron and Ai Weiwei for the Serpentine Gallery Pavilion. To complete the design, these elements are arranged on a woven sisal carpet placed in the center of the space, allowing for views of the art and garden beyond. The overall atmosphere allows for discussion, negotiation & socializing.
